Photo Privacy Scan

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Photo Privacy Scan ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our iOS application. We built this app to help you find and remove hidden information from your photos before you share them, and we designed it to collect as little about you as possible.

The short version. Your photos are analyzed and edited entirely on your device. We never upload, store, or transmit your photos or their contents to any server. The only data that leaves your device is the standard advertising and diagnostic information described below, handled by Google.

1. Photos and Media

When you choose a photo, all scanning (metadata reading, text detection, face detection) and all editing (blurring, pixelation, metadata removal, format conversion) happen locally on your device. Your photos and any information detected inside them:

Projects and drafts you save stay in the App's private storage on your device. Deleting the App removes them. Access to your photo library is requested only when you pick or save a photo, and is handled by iOS system permissions that you control in Settings.

2. Information Collected Automatically

To keep the App free, we show ads and use analytics and crash reporting. These services, provided by Google, may collect the following:

Device identifiers, including the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) when you allow trackingShow and measure adsGoogle AdMob
Coarse (approximate) location, derived from your IP addressAd relevance and fraud preventionGoogle AdMob
App usage and interaction events (screens viewed, features used, ad interactions)Analytics and ad performanceGoogle AdMob, Firebase Analytics

A push notification tokenSend optional reminder notificationsFirebase Cloud Messaging

The push token is used only to deliver notifications and is not linked to your photos or their contents.

3. Advertising and Tracking

We use Google AdMob to display ads. When you first launch the App, you may see a consent form and Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt:

You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and you can reopen the ad privacy options inside the App under Settings → Privacy Settings.

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following Google services, each governed by Google's own privacy policy:

Google's handling of this data is described at policies.google.com/privacy and Google's AdMob data disclosure.

5. Your Rights and Choices

All users

European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland (GDPR)

Where GDPR applies, our lawful bases are your consent (for personalized advertising) and our legitimate interests (for non-personalized advertising, analytics, and app stability). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability. You may withdraw consent at any time using the in-app ad privacy options. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell your personal information for money. The use of your Advertising Identifier for personalized advertising may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out at any time by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt or disabling tracking in iOS Settings.

6. Data Retention

We do not retain your photos or their contents at any time. Advertising, analytics, and diagnostic data are retained by Google according to Google's retention policies. Locally stored projects remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.

8. International Data Transfers

The third-party services we use may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. These providers implement safeguards required by applicable law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
